When I was learning to tie my shoes I really struggled because I just didn't have the fine motor skills to be able to accomplish it in either of the two most commonly taught ways. I eventually discovered my own variation that worked for me and I have been able to teach it to many of my students who struggled to tie their shoes when I was working in a brick-and-mortar school. In this small one on one session, I will be able to take the students through the steps of tying their shoes using my method and have time to talk each student through where they are struggling. One of the benefits of this class taking place on Outschool is that it is recorded and you will be able to use that recording to practice after class as many times as needed. This class may be beneficial for any student who is struggling to tie their shoes, no diagnosis or conditions are required to take this class but it may be extra helpful for students who are autistic, have ADHD, or have minor fine motor delays.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn a method of tying using that is easier for many children who struggle with the 2 most commonly taught methods.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
My name is Gabrielle, I started teaching sewing lessons when I was a homeschool senior. I taught classes at a local home school group and discovered I had a passion for teaching. When I was 19 I discovered I was most likely autistic and was able to get an official diagnosis at 21. For me, this was a revelation and explained so much. It meant I was able to seek out others like me and was a huge game-changer for me.
For over 10 years now I have been teaching in different capacities and working with children with different disabilities and differences. I have been an in-home caregiver for a physically disabled child, a preschool teacher, a teacher's aid, a tutor and have been teaching online since January 2020. I also have an Associates' degree in special education.
I am proud to be autistic. This doesn't mean I don't have struggles but I firmly believe that we all have strengths and weaknesses. I strive to give all of my students a safe and welcoming place. All of my classes are inclusive which means students of all abilities are welcome. If your student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure the best possible class experience.
