Do you remember diagramming sentences when you were a kid? It seems as though this form of learning has gotten lost in the shuffle. Diagramming sentences is an incredible way to learn more about the English language and the function of sentences. This 4-week course will help your child build foundational skills in language arts and help them to improve their writing. 

The class will be taught in a student-centered environment, using slides to display information clearly. Each class period will consist of learning/reviewing language arts topics, and then we will dive right into diagramming sentences.

Lesson 1: Sentence Diagramming Basics, What are subjects and verbs? How to diagram simple sentences with a subject and verb.
Lesson 2: What are articles and adjectives? How to diagram sentences that include articles and adjectives.
Lesson 3: What are adverbs? How to diagram sentences that include adverbs.
Lesson 4: What are direct objects and  implied subjects? How to diagram direct objects and implied subjects.
Lesson 5: What are compound sentences? How are compound sentences diagrammed?
Lesson 6: What are compound subjects and compound verbs? How are compound subjects and compound verbs diagrammed?
Lesson 7: What are verb phrases? How are verb phrases diagrammed?
