Is your child already familiar with letters and sounds? Are they ready to apply their knowledge to reading and writing words? If so, this is the class for them! This is an ongoing class where learners practice early reading skills by reading and writing CVC words. In this class, students should have the ability to recognize all of their letters and letter sounds independently or with minimal assistance, as we will be blending them together to create different words. Students should also have some prior knowledge about sight words, since we will also practice reading CVC words in simple sentences.

During the first two classes of the week, learners will practice their reading skills through group discussions, interactive slides, and hands-on activities. A worksheet focusing on a specific word family will be uploaded prior to each class. These activities will help students to sound out and blend letters, read words as a group, and have several opportunities to read independently or with teacher assistance.

On the third class each week, we will play a review game. This class covers all the short vowel sounds (A, E, I, O, U) and then repeats. The game will provide a fun and interactive way to reinforce what the students have learned throughout the week.
