The first week your learner will receive an assessment.
Each week we will do Reading Comprehension exercises that guide your reader to focus on the important facts in the passages. Throughout these exercises, we will define unfamiliar words using strategies such as root word recognition, context, prefixes and suffixes. 
We will learn about idioms, similes and metaphors.
We will use reading strategies such as finding the main idea, making predictions, and retelling. 
October 4th - Assessment of learner
October 11th-  Begin reading passages and finding the main idea 
October 18th - Finding unknown words, introduction to root words, prefixes and suffixes with an introduction to the dictionary. 
October 25th - Using context clues

I am a graduate with a Bachelors of Art from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to my bachelor degree, I have a 120-hour TESOL certificate from the International Open Academy. 
I have taught preschool in the classroom for 10 years. I have been a Girl Scout leader for 15 years. I have homeschooled my own children. And lastly, I have been a Sunday school teacher for K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades for 18 years.
My class sizes are small to enable my learners to get more out of their learning experience.
