This Spanish class is geared to short attention spans and reluctant foreign-language speakers who still want to be introduced to the Spanish language, speak it when they feel comfortable, and review it as they like over the week! We will practice different kinds of phrases and dialogues each week by playing games and listening to simple books. This beginner version of the class is aimed to be accessible for those brand new to the language. However, we learn whole phrases that incorporate the vocabulary rather than just isolated vocabulary. I model whole language and encourage it depending on each learner's level, but I am happy to hear them say whatever portion they feel ready to at the moment. If your child has been learning Spanish for a while or has had significant exposure, please see my courses listed with "intermediate" or "advanced" in the title. Learners will have lots of opportunities to interact but always have the option to pass. If they pass, I will still give them a turn from time to time to check if they want to speak. The lessons do not build on one another, and students may join in or leave on any week. I work to foster a welcoming environment, encouraging all students to do their personal best and be supportive of others in the process. Our class time will include the following: 1. Introduce new words and phrases. 2. Listen to our book of the week. 3. Play a game to further practice our target words and phrases of the week. 4. Quick quiz to review if the learners want to speak up and/or matching opportunity that works great if kids are able to annotate if time allows. (Annotation ability is helpful but not expected or required for the course!) Optional homework: Students will frequently be provided with class notes highlighting the main vocabulary, worksheets, versions of the story we read in class to practice further on their own time, and links to videos of the instructors' reading of the story to practice during the week. I received a minor in the Spanish language with my bachelor degree (2011). Later, I went on to complete the seven-week level 5 Spanish course at Roca Blanca Spanish School in Catalotepec, Mexico (2018). I have taught group Spanish classes to a variety of ages ranging from preschool through high school over a period of six years, five years of which have been online. Additionally, I have been raising my children primarily in Spanish since 2016.
