2-4 horas por semana. Students are expected to practice outside of class based on the prescribed weekly practice plan shared at the end of each lesson. This will typically involve daily practice, but student schedules will always be taken into consideration. In addition to playing, students may also be required to complete music theory/ear training/reading assignments outside of class as homework.

Experiencia de clase

Whether you’ve been playing for 30 years or you’re hoping to get started today, 1-on-1 piano lessons are the best place to go. With specialized instruction tailored to individual educational needs, I strive to create a fun and informative learning environment for all my students.

Speaking generally, the success of a pianist, regardless of style or genre, is dependent on four key aspects: physical technique, aural skills/ear training, musicality, and musical/theoretical knowledge. From these main components, all other pianistic abilities may be unlocked from virtuosic playing to natural-sounding improvisation to impeccable sight-reading. With that in mind, I divide my lessons into sections in order to work on each of these areas. This sectional lesson structure can then be transferred to a student’s individual practice in order to efficiently and seamlessly move from milestone to milestone. Additionally, in order to aid in students’ practice, I design a custom practice plan for the week following each lesson.

It should be noted that as pianists progress they may choose to specialize in styles or genres that stress certain skills more than others such as classical, pop, or jazz, in which case lesson and practice structure may differ from a more general approach. Regardless, to avoid pitfalls common in specialized paths (i.e. classical pianists struggling to improvise or pop/jazz pianists having difficulty reading sheet music), I still emphasize a generally balanced approach. With that said, I am always open to discussing curriculum specifics to find the best approach for you or your loved one.

This class will be structured as a 1-on-1 course meeting for 30 minutes. There is one class scheduled each week as a standard, but if you would like to have more time to work together each week please contact me and we can discuss adding an additional time or potentially extending the weekly class length. When scheduling a lesson, I recommend selecting the "until I cancel" setting if you would like to keep a consistent meeting time. You are still able to cancel or reschedule classes when convenient if you choose this setting.

I look forward to meeting you and making music together!

Lista de útiles escolares
Piano (88 key acoustic is preferred in most cases, but if you are new to piano or unsure of what to use for whatever reason please reach out to me.)

Webcam or Phone/Laptop with built in camera

Stand or table to hold the camera (typically the camera will be placed at the side of the pianist, viewing the upper body, face, hands, and the whole keyboard)

Microphone or Phone/Laptop with built in mic (typically an external USB microphone such as an AT2020 or Blue Yeti will yield the best audio quality)

Notebook to write lesson and practice notes

Sheet Music Tools: Pencil, 3-ring binder, and access to a printer for printing materials (these can also be replaced with a large tablet with the ability to view and write on pdfs.)

Well-lit Quiet Area (music is one of the most complex things we can do as humans, so it’s important that we allow ourselves a space to focus as much as possible.)

In addition to these materials, certain books will need to be purchased depending on what the student already owns. The specifics of the required books are subject to change depending on what a student already owns and what is currently easily available to purchase, so please reach out to me prior to the first lesson.
