Experiencia de clase

In this class, we will work together to learn the steps needed to create each portion of our adorable cake slices. Different camera views will be used to show each step of the way. As a class, we will condition, cut, roll and form our pieces. Then we will assemble our cake parts and get them prepared to be baked after class is over. The supplies are listed below and are necessary to complete the project. Note that the teacher will be using Polymer Clay, but Students may use whichever sculpting medium they are comfortable with.

This is a safe, supportive space. Let's create beautifully unique Cakes!

Sculpting Medium (any brand/type you prefer. I like to use Sculpey Polymer Clay).
Small rolling pin or smooth paintbrush handle
A cutting tool (clay knife, clay slicer or blade)
A wooden toothpick or pointy tool
Clay colors: Any color combination you choose!
Optional: Eye pins to turn into charms before baking
Optional: Liquid Clay (liquid Sculpey) for “frosting”

**Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You will bake after class. Parental help is necessary.

*Ms. Lori (she/her)

B.F.A in Fashion Design
A.A.S in Illustration/Art History
A.A.S in Graphic Design

Hi there! I'm Lori—a Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) graduate with over 30 years of experience in the design industry. My journey spans from fashion illustration, pattern making, and garment construction to designing full storyboards for buyers. I’ve also tutored aspiring fashion designers in fashion illustration, helping them build professional portfolios for industry interviews.

While my current profession is in graphic design, fashion illustration remains my creative escape from the digital world. I believe that mastering the fundamentals of design unlocks endless possibilities, allowing you to bring your creative visions to life.

When I'm not sketching or designing, you’ll find me spending time with my furry little beasts—because animals are another passion of mine!

Ready to explore the world of fashion design and illustration? Let’s create something amazing together!

*Teacher Rori (they/them)

Game Designer & Interactive Art Educator

Rori is a passionate game designer with a B.F.A. in Game Design from the Cleveland Institute of Art. They are deeply interested in pushing the boundaries of interactive art, exploring how digital experiences can engage audiences in new and meaningful ways.

With experience as a visual arts assistant at Interlochen Arts Academy, Rori discovered a love for teaching, inspiring creativity in others, and fostering artistic growth. Their background blends game design, fine arts, and hands-on instruction, making them a dynamic educator in interactive media.

Beyond game design, Rori enjoys aquascaping, crafting beautifully designed aquariums and habitats for their favorite fish—Betta fish. They currently care for two bettas and maintain four tanks, combining artistry with aquatic life.

*Angel Rivera Diaz (Mr. A)
Master’s degree in Educational Technology
Graduate degree in Special Education

I’ve been in education for over 14 years, with 8 of those years as a special education teacher specializing in working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, and those with diverse learning needs. I also have a strong background in technology integration and cybersecurity.

In addition to K-12 education, I’ve taught photography, film, video, and animation at Marquette University, where I also ran the Multimedia Technology Lab for over five years. My passion for education and technology led me to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and I’m currently enrolled in an Information Technology graduate program. I’m also just 8 credits away from completing a graduate degree in Special Education.

My approach to learning is a mix of structure and flexibility—giving students the tools they need while encouraging independence, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. I enjoy incorporating technology, hands-on activities, and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and engaging.

Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about photography and travel, and I have a house full of rescue dogs who take their job as my personal “security team” very seriously. Looking forward to connecting!
