Poetas, dramaturgos y políticos: los escritos de la antigua Roma

Students will learn about Ancient Rome's greatest writers, their works, what we know about their lives, and their influences on later authors. We'll cover the most famous playwrights, poets, philosophers, politicians, and historians of Ancient Rome, their most popular works, and the Greeks who influenced them.
The first course will present the poets:  Catullus, Vergil, Ovid, Horace, Martial, and Lucan.
The second course will present the historians:  Polybius, Sallust, Caesar, Livy, Tacitus, Suetonius, and Plutarch
The third course will present the playwrights, politicians, and philosophers:  Plautus, Terence, Cicero, Pliny the Younger, Seneca the Younger, Marcus Aurelius, and the basic philosophies of the Stoics and Epicureans.
I will present for a few minutes and then pause for student questions and discussion in order to keep the students engaged and active. Students will play a  quiz bowl game for the last ten to fifteen minutes of each session. 
I run an active classroom where students lead the discussion. I enjoy keeping students on their toes in a fun learning environment. Students will interact with me and one another in the group setting. 
Learners need no previous knowledge of ancient Rome--just a curiosity about the ancient world, literature, or Rome itself.
