The ACT is a LONG test, so I'm pretty happy that the next round of ACT testing debuts the shorter, more manageable test. That said, the ACT still tests A LOT of content. In this Reading and English test, you'll learn strategies to help you on these two tests.  

For Reading, we'll cover the following:

*What to write when you read: annotation strategies 

*Strategies for answering the questions

*Avoiding trap answers

*Multiple Texts passages

For English, we'll cover these topics:

*Punctuation

*Sentence-level grammar

*Editing skills for Student-As-Editor questions

*Word Choice

We'll cover one topic a week, as outlined in the syllabus. 

We'll use materials I have created. I use many examples and a lot of visual aids, and students will receive a downloadable "workbook" chapter for each lesson. 

I strongly recommend purchasing these books for homework practice: The Critical Reader: The Complete Guide to ACT Grammar by Erica L. Meltzer. The Critical Reader: The Complete Guide to ACT Reading by Erica L. Meltzer. Each has a lot of practice for each question/passage type. 

Because it's best to use official test questions to prepare, I recommend that students purchase The Official ACT Prep Guide 2024-2025 for homework and to gauge their progress.
