Each week the expectation is: 1. Watch the "Technique of the Week" video that I post on Tuesdays. 2. Spend some time experimenting with the technique. Ask questions, take pictures, etc... 3. Complete a reflection - either written or video recorded and post to the classroom (or send directly to me if that's more comfortable for you).

Experiencia de clase

In this 9 week FLEX class, students will learn how to do a new nail art technique each week, using tools and supplies that are commonly found at home. All genders are welcome and accepted in this class. After all, nail polish isn’t just for girls. Please see the schedule below for specifics about what techniques will be demonstrated and what the expectations will be.

Technique of the Week:
Week 1: French Tip - Five Ways
Week 2: Polish Swirl
Week 3: String Pull
Week 4: Sharpie Watercolors
Week 5: Stone Marble
Week 6: Ombre
Week 7: Water Marble
Week 8: Fluid Polish
Week 9: DIY nail decals

Each week I will demonstrate a different technique through a video that will be posted. If students have questions or difficulties, they are encouraged to reach out. I have been doing nail art for more than 20 years, so questions are always welcome. I encourage students to spend time each week exploring/experimenting with the "Technique of the Week" and then share what they've come up with. There is never a requirement to do exactly what I do.

This class is focused on having fun and being creative. Additionally, each week, there will be a reflection assignment. Students will have the option to write or record (video) what their experience was like that week. What went well? What could have gone better? These reflections will not be graded, but will give me the opportunity to share feedback and further tips with learners.

*Ideally, I would like students to post these reflections in the classroom so that other learners can interact, learn from their peers, and give their own thoughts. While this will be encouraged, I will not require anyone who is uncomfortable to share their reflection.

To get the most out of this class, students should have an interest in nail art. While expertise is not necessary, patience and a reasonable comfort level with nail polish are suggested.

I feel that children should be encouraged to follow their passions. Children need to know that they can have what they want for their lives if they have the correct tools and motivation to get there. I hope to help build confidence in my students and to give them some of those tools. I also believe that not every child learns the same way. Education is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I look forward to helping your child learn how they learn.

While I offer an extensive collection of class content choices, my specialty is meeting students where they’re at and making the course material accessible to all students, regardless of the topic. I love to be silly with my students and encourage interaction in all of my classes. I want learners to feel at ease and safe to be themselves in my classroom. My small class sizes and relaxed, encouraging teaching style allow me to tailor my classes to each student’s needs and learning style, resulting in learners walking away from class confident and smiling.

*If you don't see a time listed that works for you, please reach out. I am happy to add classes to accommodate students' schedules whenever I can. Thank you!*

Orientación para padres
Nail art can tend to be an inherently messy activity. Please make sure that your learner has a space where they can watch our lesson and experiment with the techniques, but also make a mess without ruining your favorite couch or their device. I recommend using non-acetone nail polish remover because an acetone spill can remove the finish off of just about anything (including furniture and flooring).
Lista de útiles escolares

I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 6th year of homeschool and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art.

Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues.

I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also TESOL certified.
