¡Multiplicación para principiantes! Curso con temática de animales (FLEX)

In this 6 week flexible class, students will dive deeper into multiplication. Students will learn how to solve multiplication problems using arrays and M&Ms, drawings, number lines as well as a multiplication chart and learn the count by songs and how to solve word problems. Students will walk away from this class with a better understanding of multiplication and enjoy it!  This class does not meet live. You will be sent two videos a week to watch. This will be a video of me teaching the lesson and each video will be a different topic. 

There will also be a short assignment to complete that goes along with what is taught in my video lesson. The short assignment will be completed through Nearpod and will be interactive. I will provide a small multiplication booklet for you to print that we will complete throughout the course. This booklet will provide you space to complete problems that is part of your short assignment. I will be using slides, whiteboard and manipulatives to teach the lessons. Our class theme is all about the zoo and animals. Students will be solving word problems that have to do will real life situations ie- how much do concessions cost? How much water does an animal need a day? How many pounds of food will the elephant eat? 

Here are the topics we will cover in this FLEX course.

Week 1-Day 1- Get to know you, goals for the class, expectations. Multiplication using arrays and M&Ms
             Day 2- Drawing arrays and using M&Ms to solve problems
Week 2-Day 1- Introduction to a number line and how to use it.
              Day 2- Learning about the multiplication table and how to use it
Week 3 Day 1- Learn about the communicative property. Use number lines, drawings and M&Ms arrays to solve problems.
              Day 2- Using our multiplication strategies to solve word problems
Week 4- Day 1-Using our multiplication strategies to solve word problems
              Day 2-Learn how to solve missing addend or missing factor problems.
Week 5 Day 1- Learn how to solve missing factor word problems
             Day 2- Create your own word problem for you peers to solve
Week 6- Day 1- Let's use all of our knowledge of multiplication and play games! 
             Day 2- Let's have fun as we practice everything we have learned with games!
Week 7 Day 1-Escape room! Students will work to solve a digital escape room using their knowledge of 
              multiplication. All of the animals in the zoo escaped! You need to find all of the animals before it too late!

This course is meant to be a deeper dive into multiplication. It is meant for students who are ready to learn multiplication or need extra practice. All multiplication problems will cover facts 0-12.
