In this self-paced class students will learn Middle School Earth Science through Google Earth. The Google Earth software includes satellite imagery along with various tools that make the platform a great environment for learning about our planet. Course topics include: volcanoes, streams, impact craters, meteorology, glaciers, deserts, the moon, and more. We will use various tools on the platform including measurement, time lapse, and coordinate data for learning purposes. Google Earth provides the opportunity to travel the world from your own device - this provides a unique and fun learning opportunity!

Students will watch as I screenshare and teach. Each week will feature a new topic. There will be two videos per week. The first video will be a slide presentation introducing the topic. The second video will be in the form of an Google Earth field trip to reinforce the concepts learned. An optional homework and assessments as outlined in the syllabus.

I'm so excited to teach about our planet! There's something special about seeing our planet from space and getting an idea of the big picture, that helps students learn Earth Science. My teaching style is to be student led. I believe it's important for teachers to be a guide on the side and not a mage on the stage. Students tend to be more engaged in what they learn as they have opportunities to explore and ask questions. I can't wait to see you in class!
