Read with us as the Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie all the way to the frozen Arctic! Will they be able to solve the riddle before they get iced themselves?

In each recording, I will be reading 2 chapters from the story "Polar Bears Past Bedtime." Each video will be 15-20 minutes. There will be comprehension homework after each class. Students will interact with each other and myself on the classroom page.
This class provides a good opportunity for students to continue to practice reading out loud without being in front of others. It also gives them a chance to practice reading a chapter book and practice reading fluency.
At the end of the book, students will make a poster or similar project to share what they have learned and enjoyed. An example of a book project is in the classroom materials, along with the reading journal and a special "challenge" activity. I would recommend finding a small group of friends to take this class together so that they can discuss the book with each other.

Week 1: Chapters 1 and 2- Students will complete journal pages 1-3. They will write "All about Jack."
Week 2: Chapters 3 and 4- Students will complete journal pages 4-6. They will write "All about the seal hunter."
Week 3: Chapters 5 and 6- Students will complete journal pages 7-9. They will write "All about Annie."
Week 4: Chapters 7 and 8- Students will complete journal pages 10-12. They will choose a character from the story to go shopping for. What would make a good gift for that character? Why?
Week 5: Chapters 9 and 10- Students will complete pages 13-15. They will write/illustrate their favorite part of the story.
Week 6: The students will share their book projects and optional challenge activity.

All videos will be uploaded on Tuesday of each week. I will be ensure that the students are active and I will provide regular, consistent posts in the classroom including the lessons and activities

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have been teaching for over 13 years. I have a Master of Education with a Concentration in Reading. I love book clubs where students have a chance to listen to me read as they read out-loud or silently. Even though this class has no live meetings, I am so excited to watch as the children improve their love of reading, reading fluency, and comprehension skills. I will be able to see this through our online discussions and weekly assignments. I love to see creativity in book projects that students create.
