Using the first three novels of The Chronicles of Narnia, students will experience the enchanted land of Narnia through the Structure and Style writing method.

Students should be able to read at a sixth-grade level.

Students will have homework to turn in. Students must be able to type their assignments using the MLA format.

Learners must complete assigned homework. This will include completing keyword outlines and writing essays that we discuss in class. I will serve as the editor for students wishing to submit rough drafts.

Students will have opportunities to present their essays. 

This is not a graded class. Student papers will receive an "I" for incomplete or an "A" for accomplished. 

Learners will need the student book for Following Narnia® Volume 1: The Lion's Song:

Learners will need the first three novels of the series:
The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
The Horse and His Boy

Students will practice units four through nine in this class.

This includes:
-making keyword outlines and narrating a story using outlines
-writing a paragraph from notes
-retelling a story in their own words using outlines
-creating a title 
-writing an essay following a story sequence chart
-summarizing multiple references
-writing from pictures
-practicing inventive writing
-writing formal essays and critiques
-using dress-ups, decorations, and sentence openers to make interesting sentences

I will teach the concept and model lessons. We will work together in class to brainstorm ideas. Students will be expected to participate. 

Students should expect to spend time outside of class completing their assignments.
