In this class, students will learn how to draw and watercolor paint Goldfish inspired by French artist Henri Matisse! Designed with beginners in mind, this pre-recorded video class is suitable for ages 7-10. 

The teaching process used for the drawing portion of this class is a step-by-step method that will inspire students into creative action! This process involves observing, following instructions, and creating until each student is happy with the outcome. 

Students will learn basic drawing and watercolor painting techniques and apply these techniques to complete this project. This Goldfish drawing and painting class is designed to give beginner artists the skills they need to jump-start their artistic journey into self-expression, reflection, and creative thinking. 

Included with this class is a short Henri Matisse biography video. This informational video includes images and facts about Matisse and is suitable for all ages.

Supplies and materials needed for this class: 

+watercolor paper
+set of watercolor paints
+paint brushes
+pencil with an eraser
+black acrylic paint
+paper plate (to use as a palette)
+cup of water
+paper towel

Steps to complete this project: 

Step 1: Draw a Goldfish Design with a Pencil
Step 2: Outline the Design with Black Acrylic Paint (let dry)
Step 3: Paint the Design
Step 4: Paint the Background

Time needed for students to complete this project is approximately 50 minutes: 20 minutes to draw and outline the design with black acrylic paint (let dry completely before beginning the next step) and 30 minutes to paint the design with watercolor paints. This is a self-paced video class where students may proceed through the art lesson at their own pace. Video may be paused at any time. There will be no live meetings, however, I will be available for questions and gentle encouragement.
