This class will start with a slide presentation about how hands are constructed. We will look at examples of hands in cartooning and discuss the differences. We will also talk about how hands can differ by gender and age. I will show how one can simplify the hand down to shapes that are easier to draw. Finally, we will look at common uses for the hand in cartooning and do some in-class exercises. These exercises will explore lessons learned in the class including simplifying the hand and drawing hands doing common actions.
