Experiencia de clase

Stories, laughter, and games make compelling forces in language-learning! In this class, those at or near the beginning of their Spanish-language journey will practice different kinds of phrases and dialogues each week while playing games and listening to simple books. No previous Spanish knowledge is required.

Note that while this "Lessons 25-32" course functions as a great sequel to the courses, "Beginning Spanish with Games and Stories - Lessons 1-8 (Flex Version)" and "Beginning Spanish with Games and Stories - Lessons 9-16 (Flex Version)," and I will sometimes reference phrases from those lessons, these lessons do not build on those and can be taken without that background. Each week centers on its own phrases and vocab, and there is some light review of past weeks in this same course.

Though this flex version of the course includes no live class time, please see below the various ways we will interact over the course of this learning experience:

~Interaction by responses to instructional videos~
Each Monday, I will post a video introducing the new phrases and vocabulary. I will ask one or more questions in Spanish from that week's focus, for the learners to respond to, preferably by posting recordings of themselves responding, but typed messages are also good practice. They can then comment on one another's examples. The teacher will provide constructive feedback on responses.

~Interaction by sharing weekly readings~
Each week features a simple beginning Spanish reader created by the teacher that practices that week's phrases and vocabulary. Each Monday, I share a video of myself reading the story, I provide printable versions of the stories for the learners to practice. I ask the learners to share recordings of themselves reading these books as well. This provides great practice with working through the sounds of the language and the phrases of the week. I provide feedback on their recordings as well.

~Interaction through asynchronous games~
Each Monday, I will also present a game to practice that week's focus. Examples are: a guessing game (in which learners ask each other questions and answer to find out each others' pretend identity assigned by the teacher) or charades (in which learners act something out in a quick recording and the other learners comment, trying to guess which vocabulary item was acted out).

~Interaction through feedback on homework~
Each week, along with the instructional videos, I provide class notes, a version of the week's story, and one or more worksheets. Learners can post their completed worksheets in the classroom and comment on each other's work, as well as receive feedback from the instructor.

Some weeks there are optional Kahoot review quizzes as well.

These will be our weekly focuses:
Week 1 - Talking about chores, Book: "¿Cómo ayudamos en casa?" (How do we help at home?) by the instructor
Week 2 - Describing with opposites, Book: "¿Cuál es?" (Which is it?) by the instructor
Week 3 - Talking about professions, Book: "¿Qué quieres ser?" (What do you want to be?) by the instructor
Week 4 - Telling what we would like to eat, Book: "¿Qué te gustaría comer?" (What would you like to eat?) by the instructor
Week 5 - Giving action commands, Book: "Coco el buen perro" (Coco, the good dog) by the instructor
Week 6 - Talking about furniture, Book: "¿Qué hay en tu casa?" (What is in your house?) by the instructor
