During this one time class spotlighting famous African American ballerinas, learners will begin class by painting an 8x10 canvas with one paint color. Once the canvas has been painted, learners will allow them to dry. While waiting for the paint to dry on the canvas, learners will identify famous ballerinas from the past and present. We will discuss their accomplishments and the impact they have made in the world. We will identify key details about each ballerina and record them on a graphic organizer. Once the canvas is dry, the learner will carefully adhere the silhouette to the canvas using Modpodge. Then each learner will use their embellishments to decorate their ballerina. Last, we will enjoy a gallery walk as we share our artwork with the class. This class would be a great addition to your Black History Month activities.

Learners will identify key details and discuss the accomplishments while charting similarities and differences on a venn diagram.
Learners will gain a deeper knowledge of a select few famous African American ballerinas.
Learners will carefully cover the surface of the canvas using full complete strokes.

A one page silhouette and graphic organizer will be provided for each student. (If your learner needs help cutting the silhouette out please assist them before class. Students will need the following: 1 8 x 10 canvas, paint,2 foam paint brushes, modpodge, tulle, and mini embellishments of your choice to decorate the ballerina.

Hello! My name is Angela Wright. I will be sharing my love for reading. I really enjoy supporting young readers with unlocking their reading potential through 1-to-1 tutoring and STEM with the Arts for young learners.
I have taught reading in public school for more than twenty years. I have had the pleasure of teaching every grade and subject in elementary school. I have also been afforded the wonderful opportunity to teach learners from all over the world in a few pretty awesome places like: Washington, DC, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I have served as a mentor teacher, tutor, trainer, and Assistant Principal. I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I have a current professional teaching licence with a literacy teacher endorsement for the state of South Carolina.
I absolutely love working with children and enjoy being apart of their learning process. I encourage them to take risks and explore different ways of learning a concept. It's important to me that young learners discover the joy of reading. I have had great success in helping students reach their academic potential and goals.
As an Outschool Teacher, I look forward to sharing my passion for reading with all learners. I have had training in teaching EFL, ESL, and TESOL learners. My One-on-One tutoring sessions provide a great opportunity for TESOL, ESL, and EFL learners to practice speaking English and blossom. Each session offers unique student-centered learning experiences. I believe learning should be fun and engaging for every learner.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been married for eighteen years and we have two wonderful sons. As a family, we enjoy riding our bikes, cooking, watching movies, taking long walks with our dog Nala, and traveling together.
In 2017, I launched Building Beyond the Walls Nonprofit Organization to increase awareness of STEM with the arts for young boys and girls. Our organization has successfully offered a virtual mentoring program, reading tutoring and introduced growth mindset to our mentors, mentees, and parents.Reseñas
