This is one of my more technical class and does require some patience since we doing a lot of detail especially at first with the drawing sketch. We want to make sure we have portions right before adding the colored pencils.  This multi-day class is set-up so it gives the students time to re-work their drawings as they need between classes. This will be the same as we introduced color techniques and the additional drawing. 

First Week: 
Day 1 - Go over class agenda and materials. Draw a Collard Lizard to proportion. Students can tweak it as needed till next class.

Day 2-  Draw a new lizard to proportion. I'll do a color demo. Students can continue to work on this one and or previous drawing.  Students can tweak it as needed till next class. Show and discuss drawings, question and answer time and demos as needed. 

Everyone will be at different stages and levels so that that is why it's a very flexible class to make everyone feel comfortable at their own pace.   

I will discuss, techniques and do demos each hour with the students.
All my classes are a relax feeling even at technical level.
Students can ask questions at anytime and interact. I let them draw, then ask now and then how they are doing.  I'll also ask to show their work as they feel comfortable. 

For experience, this is more about really wanting to put in the time to get the drawing to their liking and being patient. Colored pencils are a process of layering colors and it take time to get to final result of the colors.

Hello Parents and Students!
I keep my classes small so students can get more attention at their pace and I feel this is something very important in education. 

My name is Mrs. Carrie and I'm all about ART, all in FUN LEARNING or TECHNICAL LEARNING.  Going to diverse art schools and taking side programs was the best thing I did,  because I can now share the passion with students. 

My education is diverse with a BFA in Graphic Design- Illustration Communications Arts and Photography Minor, finishing at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. After college, I worked for Ad Agencies, Printers, Galleries in Wisconsin. This all brought balance to what I can share and teach. 

I will be teaching: Drawing Skills, Acrylic, Watercolor Painting, Colored Pencils,  Color Theory and Art Mentoring via Private Classes. 

Art/Design is about breaking down drawing into shapes to help your child see the basic building process for creating their art. This is the key to any art at any age. 

I have 30 YRS of teaching experience for all ages including, public schools and community programs, business and mostly private teaching.  I work with Spectrum and Trauma students which is most rewarding. 

My goal in a classroom:  To break the "intimidation" of the arts. I sadly see fear in all ages with art,  and I stress there are NO RULES FOR ART and to HAVE FUN, learn the materials what they do and don't. Learn what you like about them and you don't. BUILD CONFIDENCE.  There is ALWAYS time later to get technical. But, first relax learn the the basic principles and create your art and your unique style.  Art is NOT to be cookie cutter. Seeing a child bloom and build confident in art class WILL overall build personal confidence in them.

I'm left handed with some dyslexia,  so I can laugh at myself and have fun in classrooms or settings. It really creates a bond with students to help make them feel comfortable and that they're not alone with learning disabilities.
