In this advanced ongoing club, we will meet once a week to study and see real bugs including my pet tarantula. Each week we will learn about the characteristics of a different bug, where it lives, how it moves, and what it eats. We will discuss if the bug can be seen near our homes or far from our backyards. We will look at pictures, videos, and real bugs in some of the classes to answer questions and promote curiosity. The students will be provided an optional notes worksheet for each class each week. The students will be encouraged to draw the bug with the correct body parts they have learned about during the class.

This class has socializing, and conversation, and uses a lot of imagination. It is fun and informative, and the students will be encouraged to build connections with other students their age. At the beginning of each class, each student will have a small amount of time to share something or tell the class something about their day. They will also have time at the end of class to share the drawing they made if they would like to.

Please always feel free to request any insects, arachnids, or other bug-like creatures your student would like to learn about!

This is an advanced version of my very popular Backyard Bug Club Class. The same creature will be taught in both classes.

Please note: Previous classes offered in the club are also sometimes taught as a one-time class.

My teaching style:
I enjoy having fun while teaching and politely encouraging my students to remember the rules to help the class run smoothly. I always want the students to share and interact as much as possible while allowing shy learners to watch and engage as they feel comfortable. I strive to help all learning types feel included in my class. My goal is to have your student share all the interesting facts they have learned for days after the class. My personal style of teaching is engaging, energetic, and enthusiastic with a touch of silliness. I hope to share my passion for learning about all living creatures with each of my students.

I am absolutely thrilled to have the privilege of teaching your child. With a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a 120-hour TEFOL Certificate, and a PADI Scuba Divemaster certificate, I bring a wealth of teaching experience to the online classroom.

Over the years, I have taught in public and private schools, offered personalized one-on-one tutoring, conducted engaging online classes, and served as a dedicated camp counselor. Teaching is not just a profession for me; it's a true passion, and I am eager to share my expertise with your child.

My areas of expertise encompass a wide range, including the exciting realms of exploring living animals, English as a Second Language (ESL), Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and more.

As a former camp counselor, I had the privilege of leading students on captivating exploration hikes and engaging experiments that ignited their curiosity about the natural world. My lifelong fascination with animals even led me to obtain a PADI Dive Master certificate, allowing me to introduce young students to the wonders of scuba diving and the ocean's mysteries.

During my college years, I earned an endorsement in Language Arts. For the past four years, I have dedicated myself to teaching ESL online, forging connections with students from diverse backgrounds worldwide. Teaching the English language is a source of great joy for me, and I employ fun and creative techniques to help students of varying proficiency levels master this important skill.

My passion for all creatures, from insects and arachnids to mollusks, drives me to inspire and connect with my students. I encourage them to observe and enthusiastically share their discoveries of fascinating creatures from their own surroundings during our classes. Additionally, I create opportunities for students who share similar interests to socialize and learn together.

Building connections with my students is a top priority, and I actively encourage them to participate and share their knowledge on every topic. Throughout our classes, I will provide personal videos and photographs from the topics we study, and I eagerly anticipate your child's contributions as well.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, and be sure to follow my profile for updates on upcoming classes. I am excited to welcome your child into my class soon!
