Nivel Beginner - Advanced
In this class, students will learn the basics of cartoon animation with FlipaClip.
📢 This class is for any still skill level. No previous knowledge of FlipaClip or doing Animation is required.

If you love to draw, and you love the look of classic hand drawn animation, I'll teach you how to simplify your drawings, and utilize animation software to create the animations that you've been dreaming of.

Do you already have some knowledge of Animation? With a background in education and illustration, I teach 2D animation to help YOU to become a better animator. For example, the students in this class will also have discussions with the instructor on different ways to achieve certain special effects... For example, how to achieve the effect of motion in animation. (Whether that be using a "blurred" motion effect, or using multiple images on the same frame.)

ITINERARY:
What the students would be doing during each club meeting...
(These 1:1 class sessions will be learner-directed, so the direction will this class goes varies depending on the student.)

Other weeks...
As these 1:1 class sessions are learner-directs, there are other possible FlipaClip themed ideas that will be done in these classes with the student:
✔ If a student is working an animated film or project, I would offer any assistance with that project.
✔ Creating fun fight scenes (or standard walking animations) with the help of movement guides.
✔ Making characters talk and syncing their mouth movements to your voice.
✔ Learning how to do Rotoscoping and turning videos into animated cartoons.
✔ Learning how to use Rotoscoping to add effects to Stop Motion videos.
(Example: Making Lego Figures shoot cartoon lasers!)

This is a LIVE class and is NOT pre-recorded.
This class will be presented via cameras from the instructor. He will have one camera at his face and another will be at the table where he is drawing, so that the student can see the instructor as speaks, and be able to observe step-by-step what the instructor is doing. Students can interact with the instructor, as well ask ask questions during instruction.

No writing or independent reading is necessary.
Students are expected to communicate with the teacher. Communication, visuals, and hands-on instruction are all the things that I are important in helping the students get a better understanding of the subject.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn to demonstrate understanding of the basics of animation development through designing a character and learning various animation techniques.

Hi, my name is Raymond Mullikin. 👋

I am a professional cartoonist and credentialed teacher from San Luis Obispo, California.

I teach classes in Cartooning, Comic Book Printing and Publishing, 2D Cartoon Animation, Claymation/Stop Motion, Toy Figure Design, Video Game and App Coding, Creative Writing, etc.

I am also a professional illustrator/writer and Creative Director for Raytoons Comics. The Raytoons website is at Raytoons.Net. I have published cartoons in books, magazines, newspapers, and e-cards. I am an app designer who have designed my own games and software for schools and Appstores. I have also done past work in animation, creating animated film shorts for film festivals around the world.

I graduated from the University of Laverne with a Teaching Credential (2012) and a BA in Liberal Studies (2009). I also have certifications in Early Childhood Education, Technology and 2D Design. I've worked in education for 20+ years (including a few years in Special Ed) and have been doing contract teaching since 2009. I teach art and technology to children and adults of all ages.

How students approach a learning task can strongly influence the quality of their learning outcomes. For me, my approach is often very hands on (kinesthetic) with a lot of visual examples... That's how I've learned things, with a more creative approach. I have a lot of this in my instruction, with a mix of direct and interactive instruction with lots of Experiential Learning hands on!
It is also important to me to get feedback from both children and parents... Some kids have some very clever ideas! And, in teaching, there is always room for expansion of ideas and improving oneself.

I love drawing, comics, writing, creating my own games, and reading. Pretty much everything that I teach I enjoy and do professionally. I also enjoy teaching and thank all the parents and students willing to give me a try! 😃
