Does your learner need a better way to study science? The goal of this course is to help grade schoolers build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of life, physical, earth, and space science as outlined in the standard middle school science curriculum. I will use an engaging lecture-discussion format to guide each session. Drawing and various notetaking techniques will be taught across the course to teach learners how to organization the complex science information they’re learning into study aids they can use to master the material – a skill that will help them excel as they continue to higher levels. This step is also added to each class to help students learn how to use neuroscience backed methods to study science more effectively. Additionally, each session will incorporate a multiple choice or fill in the blank question drill to improve test-taking skills for upcoming science tests and placement exams. Classes will be taught individually, and topics will not repeat from class to class. No prior knowledge is needed as this course is designed to teach the fundamentals and therefore build the middle school science learner’s knowledge from the very basic of principles. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Baylor University
In grade school, I was highly active in science fair contests and often advanced from local and state to regional competitions each year. This passion for explaining the natural world and human body led me to begin teaching in 2002 while in college. By 2006, my core subjects were middle and high school science and writing. I taught these subjects in the classroom and as an afterschool tutor for underprivileged children. In my own studies, I had a 3.9 science GPA in college and excelled in anatomy, cell biology, histology, and pathology in medical school.
