Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
Three different methods of writing will be taught to teach students how to write: The Four Square Writing Method, The Step Up to Writing Method, and ICE. A rubric will be used to grade each paragraph. I will lecture and I will open up the classroom for discussion to teach using the Socratic method. If a student struggles with something common, I will open up the question for the whole classroom so students can learn directly from each other. Class Format 10 min: Greetings and Student...
This class is taught in English.
Students will produce 18 paragraphs over 6 weeks using The Square to Writing Approach, Step Up to Writing, and the ICE technique. Each style of education will allow students to produce 6 paragraphs with guided criticism and professional feedback. Each paragraph will be graded to ensure every student has a great command of the subjects learned. The ultimate learning goal is mastery. This class has been designed for learners who struggle with reading and writing in addition to scholarly students. Graded practice from a professional writer through repetition is not as scary as it sounds. From my own experience I have found it produces the unique skillset needed to be considered a great writer when it is taught from any age.
