Writing for Beginners: 5th to 8th Grade

In this 6 weeks class three different classroom methods of teaching writing are used to teach 5th to 8th grade students the English language: The Four Square Writing Method, Step Up to Writing, and ICE. Each is easy to learn.

Class experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
This class is taught in English.
Students will produce 18 paragraphs over 6 weeks using The Square to Writing Approach, Step Up to Writing, and the ICE technique. Each style of education will allow students to produce 6 paragraphs with guided criticism and professional feedback.

Each paragraph will be graded to ensure every student has a great command of the subjects learned. The ultimate learning goal is mastery. This class has been designed for learners who struggle with reading and writing in addition to scholarly students. Graded practice from a professional writer through repetition is not as scary as it sounds. From my own experience I have found it produces the unique skillset needed to be considered a great writer when it is taught from any age.

Assessments Offered
Assessments are graded paragraphs that every student will receive before the next class period can begin. No homework is required.
Grades Offered
Grading will be done for each class period in the form of graded paragraphs with guided feedback. A rubric will be used to grade each paragraph. This rubric will be made available to all students at the beginning of class. For new students, this rubric will be made available.
Every prompt that I will use for classroom writing is something that will be age appropriate in addition to being fun or causing curiosity E.g., pop culture can include subjects like The Lion King or genetically engineered animals that are popular today like Justin Bieber's Savannah Cats.
We will refer to three different methods of learning as described: The Four Square Writing Method, Step Up to Writing, and ICE.

Lessons have been custom made.
