This course will covers the basics of descriptive writing. Students will explore how to develop a descriptive essay, how to organize, and how to brainstorm. We will discuss how to use language in a way that is sensory activating and strong without relying solely on weak adjectives for description. We will make use of similes, metaphors, and various other forms of imagery, while also discussing word choice, connotation, and denotation to help students develop and construct their own descriptive writing. This taught in an interactive, workshop format.
