Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Everyone knows that a basic sentence is the first brick in building a beautiful story! Academic institutions require great sentence composition for even enormous dissertations.
Content: Students will be given a simple template for sentence structure: simple, compound, and complex.
Method: Each student will find sentence generators from the room they take the class in. Parents can set them up in a corner with items nearby for creating ideas (Lamps, books, plants, toys, pets, shelving units with knick-knacks, etc.)
Outline:
1. Sentence Basics
2. Sentence Types
3. Verb Agreement and Tenses in Sentences
4. Simple Sentences
5. Compound Sentences.
Teaching Style: Joy-filled approach with simplified steps. Everyone should ENJOY learning!
Sharing: Each student will write three sentences throughout the class and make positive comments about other's sentences.
Skills Needed: Students should be able to type on their device or have a pen and paper for writing their sentences. Basic knowledge of sentence writing will help (I see a blue ball on the grass). Because the goal is writing, we want to generate creative writing ideas while learning good sentence structure.
FOCUS: Sentence Structure and Generating Ideas for Creative Topics.

Learning Goals

Students will gain advanced skills in topic generation, writing in the descriptive voice, and excellence in sentence formation.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Prepare students to generate non-violent, positive messages when writing their sentences. All students are expected to be caring and respectful toward teacher and classmates. Parents can make suggestions for topic areas before class (Space, environment, or genres: music, mystery, prehistoric era, etc.) to reduce potential for off color themes.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
