In this FLEX class, your learner will be practicing solving one and multi-step word problems involving ALL signs: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. *Your learner should have a basic understanding of how these signs work and be able to solve simple problems involving these signs on their own before signing up for the class.* This class will focus on pulling the important information from word problems, solving in steps, and finding the answer. Time and money may be incorporated into some word problems at a very basic level. The weeks will go as follows: Week 1: Addition Week 2: Subtraction Week 3: Multiplication Week 4: Division The class will begin on Tuesdays. An assignment and video will be released on Tuesday and Thursday focusing on that week's skill. This will look like Miss Katlyn working through a problem on a video. Learners will be assigned 2-4 problems for the skill to work through on their own. The work for the week should be handed in on Monday before the release of the next week's information. A challenge problem will be posted in the class on Friday. Students should solve the problem, comment how they worked through it, and respond to a peer's answer. Please use kindness in your interactions- only those comments will be tolerated!

Hello everyone! 👋🏻
My name is Miss Katlyn and I’m so excited that you’re here!
I am a certified elementary school teacher, with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education PreK-4. I have 8 years of experience in brick and mortar schools spending time in PreK, kindergarten, first, second, and third grade classrooms. During those years, I cotaught autistic support, emotional support, and learning support. I also have experience in one-on-one tutoring.
My philosophy on education is focusing on the entirety of a child. Academics are important, but implementing strategies for children to grow in social emotional learning has equal value. My goal is to create an inclusive environment that is welcoming and supportive of all learners and to foster their individual needs as best I can. I believe in forming valued relationships with my learners and their families so we can create the education their child deserves.
