Class Experience

**Note: This class is twice per week for 2.5 weeks (with a total of five classes). In addition to having your own copy of the book, you will also need access to a printer in order to fully participate in this book club.**

Did you know Walt Disney was a class clown? Did you know he was an ambulance driver during World War I? Join us in this week-long book club as we read about the life of Walt Disney and have group discussions, answer fun trivia questions, complete Disney-themed crafts, watch short videos, look at real-life images, and have a voluntary Disney show and tell.

Reading assignments and homework (printed worksheets) will be assigned at the end of each class. Students will not only learn about a figure in history but will also work on reading, writing, comprehension, and creativity.

Other Info:

- Before the first class starts, parents will need to assist students in printing the twelve class worksheets (that are provided by the teacher upon enrollment). Students will be encouraged but not required to share their completed work during class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love this quote by Benjamin Franklin: "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." I hope that as students join me in class I not only teach them, but I involve them! I have been a teacher for ten years, and I love it! I like to have a structured, well-prepared classroom but also laid back enough that students feel comfortable asking questions, joining discussions, and getting involved.

I have a science degree, and I spent several years working as a Health Inspector, Drinking Water Inspector, and an Environmental Specialist. Later as I started to transition away from the science field, I spent two years helping people who have a traumatic brain injury before I became a teacher, author, and business owner. In addition to Outschool, I am also an ESL teacher, a homeschooling mom of three, a Sunday school teacher, an author of six children's books, and I own a business that provides teaching resources for kids around the world.

When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with family, writing books, hosting a kid-friendly podcast, and trying to get my two parakeets to talk (which I have not been very successful at). Two things that people find unusual about me are: I don't like chocolate, and I have 38 nieces and nephews!

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you in class soon!
