Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo is a great story about friendship, growth, and trust. After his mother dies, Rob decides to pack away his grief. Rob and his father move to Florida, where Rob has a hard time fitting in. He soon meets a girl named Sistine who also struggles with adjusting to her new life in Florida. Rob and Sistine begin a journey together after they find a caged tiger in the woods. They must make a decision to free the tiger or leave it caged.

During our sessions, I will help learners dive a little deeper into our story by leading them through discussions and activities related to the chapters read. Learners will also have the opportunity to share their responses from the assigned activity.

Learners will be asked to read 6 short chapters each day (a total of 30 chapters) and complete the assigned activity that will be posted in the classroom after our first meeting.

This book club is an excellent opportunity for your child to sharpen their reading comprehension skills, gain insight from others’ perspectives, and have a fun time reading an unforgettable story.
