In this beginners course, learners will discover how to make an account with WIX, and how to choose and edit the templates provided by WIX for a sample website. We will work together to gain familiarity with various widgets, and we will also discuss the decision making and creative process by which we choose appropriate layouts and imagery based on the goal for the website. This class will not require any purchases of domains or hosting. Class format is as follows: - Introductions/review - Short lecture - Class discussion - Practice using WIX editor - Questions Day 1: Make WIX account, compare/contrast types of website, observe common website features and elements, define website purpose, define website audience, brainstorm and sketch website paying attention to elements/images/desired features, define vocabulary: header, footer, content, navigation, mobile site, user, choose and edit a template. Day 2: Edit template based on previous day's sketch, discuss complimentary fonts/imagery/word choice, make About/Content/Contact page, edit header and footer, gain familiarity with WIX editor and platform capability. Class time of 60 minutes is an estimate. At times, class may end a little before or a little after the 60 minute mark.
