Guten Tag! In this class, you'll learn how to make good educated guesses when you see a new German word. You’ll get… + 3 videos that teach you to become an expert educated guesser + slides that guide you through 20 mini practice sessions + a handy reference sheet + the opportunity to ask me any questions that come up as you do the work Read below for more details. I’d love for you to complete the training! --Dr. Jennifer P.S. There are two Vocabulary Trainer classes. You can take one or both, in any order. --------- There are so many interesting similar words in German and English. Some are pretty obvious, like… die Hand, hand die Pflanze, plant die Laterne, lantern But some are a bit more hidden, like… das Girokonto, checking account der Ellenbogen, elbow sich fürchten, to be afraid In this class, you’ll learn to undercover hidden similarities quickly. You’ll become an excellent educator guesser! We will discuss and practice things like… 1) dividing up the word 2) looking at consonants 3) considering other similar sounds ------------ THE SELF-PACED FORMAT This is a self-paced class, which means there are no live meetings on Zoom. Instead, you work your way through the pre-recorded, pre-written learning materials posted in the classroom (videos + slide presentation + reference sheet). You can go through the class at whatever pace works best for you. - If you finish early, great—you can move on to your next German class! - If you need more time, no problem. Just let me know. If you have questions as you are working on the material, you can message me at any time. The class will probably take you around 45 minutes to complete. ------------ LEARNING MATERIALS Here’s what you’ll do in the class: 1 – You’ll watch 3 videos teaching you the steps to making good educated guesses (5-10 minutes each) 2 – You’ll work through the slide presentation on your own, making educated guesses about 20 new words (20 minutes) You’ll also get a Reference Sheet to remind you of the steps. ------------ LANGUAGE Language of Instruction: English Language of Activities: German ------------ THE COMPLETE CURRICULUM If you’re interested in becoming truly fluent in German, see my full German curriculum: https://outschool.com/search?q=bjornstad. Send me a message if you have questions or would like a copy of my “German for High Schoolers” information sheet.
