Class Experience

Students will learn new vocabulary words as they focus on word attributes: part of speech, definitions, synonyms, antonyms. Also, we will break apart words by their prefixes, roots and suffixes so students can begin to determine meaning from higher level words using word analysis skills.
Homework is not required but students who wish to check-back in with me and share where and how they used their new vocabulary words are welcome to!
Index cards or a small notebook Pencil Highlighter Colored Pencils or Markers
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will informally assess students throughout class and students will have the opportunity to present their understanding in written form and/or by drawing their new vocabulary connection by the end of class.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Each week a new children's novel and author will be shared to encourage diverse and board reading options.
