We will discuss the 'big questions' in the text, learn and use new vocabulary, use our retrieval and inference skills as well as a writing activity specific to the day's story. Day 1 : Meet Loki, god of fire, shapeshifter and trickster as he retells the story of Odin's creation of the lands of Asgard, Midgard and Utgard. Writing activity: You are interviewing Odin, write your interview questions. We will look at punctuating direct speech. Day 2 : We meet Thor, god of thunder, who intends to travel to a freezing land and fight Odin's enemies, the giants. Writing activity : A menu fit for Thor. Write a five course menu for Thor using descriptions, noun phrases, prepositional phrases and verbs. Day 3 : Thor and Loki come across an unusual building, which turns out to be a giant's glove! Thor's hammer has no effect on the giant, how will Thor challenge and defeat him? Writing activity : write a letter from Loki to Odin asking for help. Day 4 : Thor engages in a series of challenges set by the giants, one of which is to lift the giant's huge cat! Can Thor beat the giant's grandmother in a wrestling match?
