In this class, students will learn how to use a number line for addition and subtraction within numbers 1-10 using M&M's, as well as how to write equations vertically. At the end of each class, students are welcome to eat their treats. On the first 2 days, students will be introduced to a number line and how to use it for addition within numbers 1-10 using M&M's. Learners will then practice what they have learned using a number line. On the next 2 days, students will learn how to use a number line for subtraction within numbers 1-10 using M&M's. Learners will then practice what they have learned using a number line. During the last 2 days, students will look at both addition and subtraction problems and solve for the answer using a number line. Students are welcome to use any treats they like.

Hello! Thank you for sharing this time with me! My name is Mrs. Bloom, and I love teaching kids! My goal is to allow my students to experience learning hands on, and to encourage them to think and express themselves in a positive way. With over 23 years of experience working with kids in multiple capacities, including volunteering at camps, running kids programs, working as a teacher, and raising and homeschooling my own child, I have a huge variety of experiences from which I can pull to create fun and engaging classes for my students! Since we are expected to integrate information from multiple areas when we approach a problem in real life, my classes are taught from this interdisciplinary perspective. This allows students to ask questions, explore, and discover information that is interesting and relevant, motivating them to become lifelong learners.
