Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
This is a Math Additions class. I use a PowerPoint presentation flash-cards. We will move along as fast as your student is able. I start with lower numbers such as 0+0=0 , 0+1=1, ... moving to 1+1+ 2... 2+2=4... going up to 9+10=19. I have this class because, as I have been teaching students in public and private schools, I find that young students are not as skilled with simple addition as they should be. I see students struggling in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even in 4th grades. Most students doing flashcards is extremely helpful and generally takes more than one time through the flashcards to master simple addition. This class is just 40 minutes long. This is long enough for most students. If needed I will go up to 50 minutes if your student is not losing interest and needs more time. I like to interact with the students by talking about fun topics. A student can share a fun time or a toy they like etc. Students do need to know their numbers 1 to 100. For those students who need help counting please see my class: Easy Peasy-I Can Count to 100. Most classes will be about 35 minutes. I also have a Subtraction Class for ages 5 to 8. If you need a specific time please contact me via OutSchool.
Learning Goals
The goals is to have the student master simple addition in their head and not using their fingers to count. This will greatly help them with their in-class work, homework and tests.
