In this class the learners will be exposed to the exciting Physics of Particles! I will screen-share power point slides with lots of pictures and will encourage learners to ask any questions they have about this fascinating topic. Firstly, we will zoom into an atom to identify the fundamental particles that make it up. Next, we will expand into looking at the Standard Model of Particles, which summarises our current understanding of Matter and Antimatter. Thirdly, we will discuss some of the properties of these particles and their applications in our daily life. For example: do you know how touchscreens work? If learners have particular questions they want to to explore, I will be flexible and responsive! The only necessary prior knowledge is a basic understanding of atoms and forces.
