Class experience

Above all, to thine own self be true. Explore your skills and talents, and help us build something great! The goal of this class is to have fun!
I have been teaching Shakespeare locally and on Outschool for years, for kids ages 7-14. I am experienced in theater and performing arts, including costuming and choreography. I love inspiring kids to develop an appreciation for theater and especially Shakespeare in particular.
Homework Offered
"Speak the speech, I pray you, as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue:" - Hamlet Practice makes perfect! Read your script often at home, practicing the difficult words. Use a partner, if possible. It's not necessary to memorize your lines but by spending 15 minutes a day you will be able to act them out better during our performance!
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Complete abridged script will be provided once parts have been assigned to each learner. Their lines will be individually highlighted and stage direction added.

Costumes are optional, but some ideas might be to bring items they have on hand, such as a cloak, hat, wig, fancy dress, etc. We will go over some ideas together and DIY options.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The plot of Twelfth Night includes some romance, cross-dressing and gender stereotypes that make for an educational discussion on gender roles in Elizabethan era theater. While I designed these classes to be as light-hearted and casual as Shakespeare intended, these elements are present and there is the possibility of fellow classmates having seen live productions or movie versions that are rated PG-13 in the US. I have online and in-person experience teaching these classes to children and do my best to present these subjects in an age-appropriate manner.
