In this ongoing course your scholar will learn survival skills and immediately put them to the test through interactive role playing game play. 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Throughout our role-playing game, students will imagine themselves in dangerous scenarios. For example, students will encounter a grizzly bear at one point in the adventure and decide what steps they should take to best overcome the situation. Students will decide what they do, they may choose to run, play dead, scare the bear away, etc. There will never be violent images or videos in this class but through discussion students may be tempted to suggest violent actions in order to survive. I will always preface these situations with the warning that violence is never the first choice we make in a survivalists encounter. This class is appropriate for ages 8 and up. Conversation on the three things needed to start a fire will come up (Fuel, Heat, Oxygen). We will not actually start any fires.
