US Grade 1 - 2
**** This is the Part 2 class of the original "The Amazing Megalodon Shark!" class. Please make sure you have taken my first "The Amazing Megalodon shark! (Part 1)" class before signing up for this one. This class will build on and expand on what students have already learned in the first class (Part 1). **** 1. Introductions: I will introduce myself, and I will ask students to share their name and age (if they feel comfortable sharing.) 2. We will go over online classroom expectations. - We listen to who is speaking. - We raise our hand if we have a question or want to share something with the class. 3. Pre-class Question: What is one thing you remember learning about Megalodon sharks from the first class? Students will use this time to help remind us of information we learned in Part 1. As always, I will never force any shyer students to talk or share. :) 4. I will read about Megalodon sharks to the students. Please view "Learning Goals" below to see specific information we will learn. We will pause to discuss what we are learning and check for comprehension. In this class, we will also learn about two other prehistoric sea creatures and discuss who might have won in a fight between them and the Megalodon shark. 5. We will answer a few comprehension questions about what we learned. 6. Students will draw the prehistoric sea creature they think would have won in a fight between all three sea creatures. We will share our drawings and see who most students think would have won. I encourage a lot of discussion and participation during class, so we may not have a lot of time to draw. It usually depends on how talkative and interactive students are during class. We will share our drawing if we have time. 7. Sometimes my classes run a few minutes over because students are excited and want to share what they know about Megalodon sharks. If you have to leave before I officially end class, I completely understand. Some classes may also run a few minutes under due to shyer students or lower class levels. I always strive to end class on time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn even more about the Megalodon shark. Students will learn about where Megalodon sharks may be living in the ocean right now, how we can prove Megalodon sharks ate whales, how they hunted, and why they are considered apex predators. Student will also learn about two other prehistoric sea creatures, and how/if they interacted with the Megalodon shark.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
We will also talk about fossilized Megalodon feces, which I will refer to as "poop" during class. A picture is also shown of fossilized Megalodon feces.
