Class Experience

Welcome to the Super Science Series, Habitats & Adaptations!

In this class, students will learn about 3 states of matter and the properties of each. We will experiment with how the properties of matter affect their behavior. Students will also determine how to change matter from one state to another. Students will also be introduced to reversible and irreversible changes.

Students will be introduced to the new concepts through video lessons, read-aloud, and interactive games.

Each Monday, new video lessons and activities will be shared.

Each Wednesday, new discussion questions and activities will be shared.

Here is our study schedule:

Week 1 Topics-
-What is matter?
- Types of matter- Solid, Liquid, Gas
-Observation Activity: Matter Balloons

Week 2 Topics-
-Properties of liquid
-Properties of solids
-Properties of gas
-Experiment: Rootbeer Floats

Week 3 Topics-
- Reversible & irreversible changes
-Experiment: Freezing Leaves & Melting Ice

Week 4 Topics-
-Changing between matter
-Experiment 1: Liquid to gas
-Experiment 2: Solid to liquid to solid

FLEX COURSE:
This is a flex class, with no live meeting. This is great for students to take their time with their learning and share it with us when they are complete. New classroom videos will be released each Monday, and students should post their work by Thursday to allowing for feedback.

INTERACTION:
1) Students are encouraged to share with the class weekly through photos or videos.
2) Students will also have the opportunity to test their knowledge and compete against classmates via Kahoot.
3) Each Wednesday will provide another opportunity for interaction through challenges, games, and discussion questions

WHY CHOOSE FLEX?
- Great for busy families
-Students can pause and replay the videos
-Students can take their time with their work
-No time zone issues
-No need to miss other activities
