Class Experience

Students will learn about creative writing using various classic Robert Munch Stories. Each week, I will begin our lesson by enthusiastically reading a different Robert Munch story and the I will use it to enhance the specific anatomy of creative story writing being discussed for the week. Students will learn how a Robert Munch book is made and pertinent writing terms such as: author, editor, illustrator. Students will learn brainstorming techniques that will be used to write their own short story. Students will create every aspect of their short story including: character(s), a setting, a problem and a solution.

Over the two weeks, students will be assigned a different part of their own story to both write and submit and I will review and make comments on their work. Each edited section will be used to complete a polished copy of their own story. For their final assignments, students will be encouraged to provide a video recording of themselves reading their (polished) short story.

Hello! My name is Angela! I am a teacher with over 25 years of experience. I also have a Masters in Theology and am a Certified Plan to Protect Trainer. I have been teaching at a private gifted school for over 20 years. My objective in teaching is to evoke a lasting curiosity and desire to learn in students. I believe that learning is both intriguing and contagious. I also believe that learning is a never ending process; never a destination.

In addition to being a teacher and life-long learner, I am also a mom. Through the years, our home has been full of interests that we pursue together as a family: making puzzles, building Lego projects, experimenting with baking and cooking, learning to painting, planting vegetable gardens etc. we have tried it all. We have always made pursuing our passions a priority and we have no intention of slowing down.
