In this two-day workshop, kids will learn to make a very basic muffin (from boxed cake mix) that will be transformed into BEAUTIFUL professional looking CUP CAKES!

Class experience

Hello!
My name is Angela! I am a teacher with over 25 years of experience. I have been teaching at a private gifted school for over 20 years and I believe real learning is both intriguing and contagious. Learning should always be a process... never a destination... so we should learn to learn WELL.

Through the years, our home has been full of interests we were pursuing...puzzles, lego, baking, cooking, painting, vegetable gardens etc. We have always made pursuing our passions a priority and we have no intention of slowing down.
Day One:
-Cake mix
-required ingredients as per the back of the cake mix box
-Basic kitchen utensils: spoons, wooden spatula, electric mixer (optional)
-muffin pan
-muffin liners/Pam spray

Day Two:
-Baked muffins (made in class 1)
-1 box of Red Jell-O crystals
-1 box of Green Jell-O crystals
-1 package of large marshmallows
-1 package of small marshmallows
-1 tub of white icing (Betty Crocker or the like)
-Kitchen scissors

Students may choose to use a small knife ONE to cut off the top of a muffin (to make a flat surface for decorating) only. This is not a necessary step but could be an option that students will want to apply to their cupcake making experience.
The muffin/cupcake ingredients I use are all nut free. Eggs are used but an alternate muffin base would be a very easy substitute for students who may have allergies.
