Students will learn the letter U and be introduced to words that start with U. Students will listen to the story and be encouraged to participate in discussion about the story and the characters. Students will learn about friendship and being kind. Students will practice tracing the letter U. Students will make a cupcake craft and decorate it however they like.
Hello, I'm Elizabeth, and I love stories! In my classes, I will use my love of storytelling and my creative writing expertise to teach pre-reading and pre-writing skills to young children. I've been working with children for about nine years as a babysitter, nanny, tutor, and online teacher. As a writer for children and young adults, I know how important stories are for our world. I want to help your child develop a love for reading and writing through the magical world of stories.
1 file available upon enrollmentI will send PDF files of materials needed for the cupcake craft and the letter U that can be printed out before class. For the cupcake craft you will need: construction paper (in several different colors) half of a paper plate markers, crayons washable paint or watercolors Small objects for decoration: gems, glitter glue, buttons, stickers, pom poms scissors, white glue Students are welcome to dress up as a unicorn or a princess and bring a unicorn or princess toy to class with them if they would like!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
*Parents should be nearby to help with the hands-on craft we will make at the end of class. (Parental supervision is recommended because we will be using scissors and the craft could be messy.) *Please provide your learner with a wide, open space for movement songs and/or activities in addition to table space for craft time. Note about the mute/unmute settings: Since this is a class for young learners, I will be using the mute/unmute button during class so that everyone can hear me and so that everyone gets a chance to speak in class. Before class, it would be helpful to either teach your child how to mute/unmute, have an adult nearby to mute/unmute for your child, or to change the settings so that the teacher can control the mute/unmute settings for your child.
