STEM: Hands-On Learning Camp

US Grade 1 - 4
Learners will be able to apply their thinking skills critically, creatively, and with problem solving to work on five different STEM challenges. These STEM challenges will allow the learners to create and build designs. The class will be structured with a five minute scenario and directions for the challenge. Day 1: • 14 popsicles stick (jumbo preferred) • 3-4 rubber bands • 1 plastic spoon • 1 mini marshmallow • Tape measure (suggested but not needed) Day 2: • 5 popsicle sticks • 3-4 index cards (3 x 5) • Straws (non-flexible) • 3-4 sheets of construction paper • Scissors • Tape • Tape measure (suggested but not needed) Day 3: • 20 pennies • 5 x 6 inches of foil (may want to have several squares pre-cut • Bucket of water Day 4: • 20 pieces of uncooked spaghetti • 20 mini-marshmallows • 1 large marshmallow • 1 yard of tape • 1 piece of paper • Scissors • Tap measure (suggested but not needed) Day 5: • Bowl • 10 pennies • Straws • Tape • String • Scissors • Paper clips • Any other materials you want to add to build a bridge
