US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Students make predictions and record their findings about the buoyance of everyday foods. Students test their theories in a hands-on, age-appropriate and fun-filled lesson. Class discussion will also include topics density, mass, and buoyancy. The students use their creativity and put their reasoning skills to practice allowing their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. *Slides will be used to accompany the class
Learning Goals
Great experimental class! This is a wonderful, hands-on experiment. Discuss buoyance, density, and surface area, practice making predictions, testing a hypothesis, and record findings on a chart.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please only select safe foods if your child has any allergies-we will not be consuming the fruit in class.
Supply List
1 container to test the buoyance of fruit/vegetables. Containers can be plastic cups, large measuring cups, or a bucket to fit the following fruit: whole apple, whole orange, single grape, single baby carrot, single cherry or Roma tomato, and one other of your choice-for example cherry, strawberry, pear, lemon... Container need to be filled half to 3/4 filled with water-we will do this in class.
