Intermediate Level
The teacher will use a wide variety of multimedia sources such as slides, video clips, facilitated discusssion, and games to help the children build some background knowledge on our topic of the day. They will have opportunities to share their ideas with each other and then will finish their project. After the lesson, the teacher will allow opportunities students to share their findings with classmates if they choose to (optional). A list of supplies and any worksheets will be posted and emailed 5 days prior to each topic week. Students may join at any time as the challenges will change each week. Parental Guidance
Your child might need help when our project includes using scissors or taking measurements, but most can be done independently.
Supply List
The teacher will post and email a list of supplies needed to go along with each lesson 5 days before class begins. Once each session has been taught, a worksheet will follow to complete the design challenge.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome to my Outschool page! I recently retired after teaching for 25 years in elementary public schools. I currently am still working part-time as an Intervention Specialist in Math and Reading. Through my teaching years, I taught all subject areas in grades 2nd-6th. During the last three years I was one of two teachers that designed and taught a brand new elementary S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) curriculum that was taught throughout our school system. I've coached wide variety of academic student teams, including: Math Club, Lego Robotics, Destination Imagination, Chess Club. I've been certified professionally through the Alabama Reading Initiative; and Alabama Math, Science, & Technology Initiative. In addition I also have 4 years experience teaching ESL classes to students in Asia. I have a multitude of personal interests that I love to share with my students. My goal in teaching is always to find unique ways to ignite students’ interest and help them become lifelong learners. My current certifications include: highly qualified teaching certificate in the state of Alabama, Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality from Oklahoma State University, and Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Troy State University.
