"Learners will continue to engineer a starship that could sustain an intergenerational trip to another galaxy...and Beyond! We focus on emergent design where students co-construct meaning with instructors in a collaborative environment in Minecraft creative mode on our shared, dedicated Java server TheRenewal.earth Our philosophy is to engage every problem through a 7-generations lens where we consider the long-term implications of the decisions we make today. Our ""D20 Learner Principles""...
- initiate the project with empathy, where students return to their taking care of a Minecraft animal - design redstone circuitry to power multiple parts of the ship with renewable energy - create and maintain food, water and air systems to sustain life - design using color theory - engage in collaborative decision making through Space Station builds - create artistic venues to experience storytelling, music, and dance

If students and parents request a course certificate, we will be using Google Forms and PDF's to implement the self-assessment process. Parents will be required to sign in with a Google Account so that screen-shots of student work may be uploaded to Google Forms, and then shared with parents as a final certificate in PDF format. Padlet will be used to show the sequence of the week’s learning, but no Padlet account is required. Each day, students or instructors may post non-identifiable screenshots in a Padlet gallery so that other students can be inspired by each other's builds. Minecraft will be the medium through which we build and share and Minecraft Java gamer tags will be required for this class. These are visible by other students who are working on our dedicated Java server "TheRenewal.earth" but are never shown in the Padlet screenshots or on class posts. Parents will be required to sign in to the Minecraft server TheRenewal.earth with a Minecraft Java student account. Once in our Lobby, students will be brought into the Starship Building Server.
