Students are assessed informally as they identify variables and create a graph of the data.Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 6
In this one-day class, students will learn how to identify the independent, dependent and control variables associated with scientific experimentation. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to graph data and see the relationship between the variables. We will identify variables in 5 different experiments that have spooky Halloween themes. For example, students will identify the variables in an experiment where Frankenstein uses 4 different light colors to find which one allows his prized Venus Fly Trap to grow the most. Students do not need prior knowledge of the scientific method, or the variables associated with it. I will explain these concepts before we look at the individual experiments. The class is interactive as students will be discussing the content, writing out answers, and graphing data.
Learning Goals
