**This class is perfect for all levels of Spanish proficiency!** This one-time class is the perfect opportunity for students to learn about Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), practice new Spanish vocabulary, and color beautiful sugar skulls - also known as calaveras de azúcar. The tradition of decorating sugar skulls has been popular throughout Mexico for centuries and gives Mexican families and friends an opportunity to spend time decorating their homes and communities together. Now it's your child's turn to color their own sugar skulls that can be hung in their bedrooms, playrooms, or anywhere that needs some more color! Students will begin by learning new Spanish vocabulary that's related to Día de los Muertos through an interactive, immersive approach. Next, the instructor will share examples of completed sugar skull designs to give students ideas of colors and patterns. The instructor will send a few sugar skull coloring sheets in advance so students can choose which one they'd like to complete during class. Afterward, students will take out their crayons, markers, or colored pencils and begin working alongside their classmates to color and chat. Finally, they will present their artwork and review all that they learned throughout class. *NOTE: To honor the backgrounds and ages of students, the religious history of Día de los Muertos will not be presented in this class.*
