This class is being put forth in Spring 2020 for children who enjoy squishy toys and would enjoy an opportunity to connect and have fun with other children. Each child will be given time in class to present their squishy toy to the class and offer any added information that makes the squishy special. The teacher will asks questions about each child's squishy toy and will also encourage other children to also ask questions or react to the toy being presented. The number of squishy toys for each student to present will be limited to 5 per learner. The teacher will also briefly go over how squishy toys are great for helping during a stressful time and she will provide a brief demonstration of squeezing a squishy in her hand while breathing deeply with the intention of relaxing. She will encourage the students to practice the new skill with her. The class discussion will pivot back to more fun topics, including more squishy talk or a general chit chat inclusive of everyone. Each learner will have their moment to share and socialize. Each child will be included in the conversation and experience a positive social interaction with other children.
Learning Goals
Each student will have fun while showing and sharing their squishy toy. Additionally, students will be made aware of how to use a squishy as a relaxation technique.Other Details
Parental Guidance
This is an opportunity for students to socialize and share with other children, but I will also be using the opportunity to encourage a relaxation technique using a squishy toy.
