Let's learn about Shabbat! In this one-time class children will take a look a different holiday from a secular and objective lens. Different families have many different traditions and many families celebrate Shabbat! We will begin with welcome song in which we will warmly welcome each student by singing "Shabbat Shalom." We will also sing a few other songs about Shabbat and have fun dancing together! After singing we will read a Shabbat story and learn more about what the Jewish people often do on Friday nights. At the end of class we will review what the Jewish people often do on Friday nights. We will discuss how different families have their own traditions and this is just one of many!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the holiday of Shabbat while having fun singing and engaging in different activities.
Students will learn about the importance of Shabbat in Jewish cultures and how families observe it weekly.
